Aneurisma Aórtico Abdominal

Presentado por la Dra. Lorena De Marco Garcia, MD

Be aware of the silent killer- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (or Triple A’s)-featuring Lorena De Marco Garcia, MD
An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a bulge in the abdomen section of the aorta, the body’s main artery. If the aorta bursts, it can cause serious bleeding that can quickly lead to death. This condition often has no symptom but can be found with a screening ultrasound. The Memorial Institute for Heart and Vascular Heath and Futura Health Screening are offering low-cost, painless screenings including abdominal aortic ultrasound to detect an aneurysm, carotid artery ultrasound to detect stroke-causing plaque, and ankle brachial index (ABI) to detect peripheral arterial disease in the legs. Screenings are $45 each or $125 for all three. (509) 249-5333 or (866) 486-4882

What is The Period of PURPLE Crying®?

Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital is offering a new class to help parents better understand the developmental stage in a baby’s life when they cry more than any other time (usually from 2 weeks of age until about 3-5 months). Doctors used to refer to this as colic, but the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome has coined this stage of development as “The Period of PURPLE Crying®.” PURPLE is an acronym—P stands for peak of crying, U for unexpected, R for resists soothing, P for pain-like face, L for Long lasting and E for evening , when this type of crying is most common. The Period of PURPLE Crying® program was developed by the to help parents understand and prepare themselves for what to expect during this time. Classes are from 1-2 p.m., February 9, March 9, and April 21, at Memorial’s Education Center. People can register for this class or find more information at 509-248-7322, or yakimamemorial.org/events.
