The first time I crossed the bridge into Children’s Village with my child, I remember being nervous and scared of what the results were going to be. Not knowing what to expect was scary but the family coordinator made it so much easier for me. That first visit has turned into my favorite memory of Children’s Village. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. After nine years, people are still very welcoming.
One thing that has really helped me in a positive way is Holland, a support group for families who have received a new diagnosis for their child. Holland has helped me learn the importance of self-care and building relationships. The information given to me at Holland made me try to be more involved in activities and interaction with other parents. I have become more social and outgoing. My family and I enjoy all the family events at the village.
