On April 30, four parents from Children’s Village joined Tracie Hoppis, Child and Family Services Supervisor, at Pacific Northwest University to share about the journey of raising a child with special needs. Amy, Heather, Melia and Erin talked about positive experiences with the medical profession, as well as some circumstances they wished could have gone differently. They encouraged students and future physicians to really listen to family’s needs, concerns and celebrations, remember that their child is a child first, consider how to deliver difficult news, and consider the parent as an important member of the ‘team’- learning and making decisions together.
Way to go CV Moms!!
