Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Memorial Family of Services are pleased to announce the election of four new members to the Board of Trustees, bringing the total board membership to 15 people.
The new members are David Hargreaves of Argus Insurance Inc., attorney Sonia Rodriguez True, health care consultant and former Memorial Vice President Gail Weaver, and Mina Worthington of Solarity Credit Union.
The board also has new leaders for 2014. James Berg, an attorney with Larson, Berg and Perkins PLLC, is the new chairman. The new vice chairman is Scott Wagner, owner of roofing company M.G. Wagner Inc., and Dr. William Feldmann of Yakima Valley Radiology assumes the role of secretary/treasurer.
For more than 60 years, Memorial’s Board of Trustees has worked to ensure premium health care in the Yakima Valley. The board is composed entirely of local, volunteer community members. “The health care industry is in a period of intense change, and Memorial must be positioned to respond to those changes as it strives to provide quality health care to everyone in our community,” Berg said. “The board looks forward to working with Memorial’s administration, as well as other members of our community, to ensure that Memorial contributes to a healthy Yakima for years to come.”Berg has served on Memorial’s Board of Trustees since 2007.
Hargreaves has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years and currently is senior vice president and partner of Argus Insurance. He also has served on numerous industry and community boards, including the United Way of Yakima County, the Central Washington State Fair and Yakima National Bank.
Rodriguez True is a family-law attorney in private practice. She previously served on the Yakima City Council and helped create the Yakima County Gang-Free Coalition to combat gang activity in the Yakima Valley.
Weaver retired in 2012 after 32 years with Memorial, most recently as vice president. She currently works as a health care policy consultant and is a member of the Washington State Hospital Association Public Policy Committee.
Worthington, president and CEO of Solarity Credit Union, has worked in the financial services industry for 24 years. She is director of the Northwest Credit Union Association and serves on the boards of Junior Achievement of Central Washington and the Capitol Theatre.
Leaving the board are Darci Swanson, who served out her term, and Bill Dolsen and Benjamin Soria, who both resigned. Memorial thanks them for their service.
The remaining members of Memorial’s Board of Trustees are Buffy Alegria of the International Medical Equipment Collaborative; Dr. Ross Katz of the Physician Anesthesia Association; Lisa Shields Long of Shields Bag and Printing; Craig Mendenhall of BBM Financial Services; Dr. Brian Padilla of Emergency Associates of Yakima; Keith Riffe of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences; Duane Rossman, retired general manager of Weyerhauser Co.; and Dr. Roger Vielbig of the Yakima Heart Center.
