Dedicated providers bring hospice services to hundreds of patients and family members every year. That care is usually offered-as it should be-in the familiar and comforting surroundings of home. But sometimes home care just isn’t possible.
- For the widower who lives alone and has no caregiver
- For the elderly couple not strong enough to care for each other
- For the grandmother whose adult children live miles away
- For the husband who has to work to support the family and can’t be his wife’s caregiver
- For the young mother with who doesn’t want her small children to watch her die
Hospice professionals, community leaders and families see an urgent need to create a home-away-from-home for terminally ill patients who are unable to be cared for at home, or whose family caregivers need occasional respite.
Our community is answering the call by building Cottage in the Meadow-a 20-bed home for hospice care that will be the first and only in Yakima and Kittitas counties.
When time is short, it’s the simple things that mean so much. Peace. Privacy. Family, Home. Cottage in the Meadow will be a haven for patients and loved ones-for those who matter most, when it matters most.
In spacious private rooms, loved ones will gather. Children will play. Memorial will be shared, and gentle care provided. On secluded patios, patients will hear the sound of water, feel the breeze on their faces and warm their feet in the sun.
Cottage in the Meadow will be a place to experience life and prepare for what comes next.
Cottage in the Meadow is for all of us, and your support wil help make central Washington a better place to end life’s beautiful journey.
It’s an Opportunity as a community to gather around our loved ones in a collective embrace, offering the gift of comfort, dignity and peace.
