One in two women age 50 and older will break a bone due to osteoporosis. 60,000 deaths each year can be directly attributed to complications from osteoporosis, which claims more lives than breast, prostate and cervical cancer each year.
In honor of Women’s Health Month, women in the Yakima Valley can learn more about their own bone health and about women’s health overall with no-cost osteoporosis screenings, bone density scan information and more at Healthy Women – Informed & Empowered, a women’s health event Wednesday evening, May 4, at Cornerstone Medicine, 4003 Creekside Loop.
That evening, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., a panel of medical experts will speak on a variety of women’s health topics. Also offered is a free 30-minute yoga class, 5:30 to 6 p.m.
There will be door prizes and other fun events. The event is no cost to the public.
