A teen mom talks about staying in school

Letter #3: by Anonymous

I am 18 years old, a mother of a 2 year old boy and an almost 9 month old girl.  I live in a studio apartment that is way too small and you know what? It doesn’t even have its own bathroom.  You have to use the community bathroom.

I am in my junior year of high school.  I can’t believe I have made it that far.  You know, though, it’s not that easy.  Every day I have to wake up about 5:30 am and get myself ready first.  In that time I make a bottle and change a diaper.  About 5:45 I wake up my son and get my son and daughter dressed.  We leave for the city bus at about 6:30 am.  It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the transit and we get to school about 7:45 am.

Even through all of that it is worth staying in school because you are able to find a better job out of life.  Also, you are showing your children that you can be someone out of life even through your circumstances.  My advice for mothers of more than one child is that you can do it!
