10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, July 27
Modern Living Building, Yakima State Fair Park, 1301 S. Fair Ave.
What is it?
This is the 12th year for Fiesta de Salud, an annual health and wellness fair presented by Virginia Mason Memorial, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic and Fiesta Foods. This event is offered at no charge to attendees.
The purpose of Fiesta de Salud is to promote health services available to all in our community and to connect the people to the services.
What can people expect?
There will be more than 30 community outreach agencies and vendors ranging from health care to education. It’s the perfect time to get information, ask questions and learn more about the services they offer. Also, free health screenings: for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure.
We’ll have live music and fun activities, including the obstacle course, for the kids.
Will there be health screenings?
Yes. There will be cholesterol, diabetes, osteoporosis and blood pressure screenings. (If you fast for 8 to 10 hours before the blood test it will be more accurate, but it can still be done if you don’t.)
The Farm Workers clinic staff will offer a mobile dental clinic for the kids.
How do I sign up?
You don’t need to sign up. Just show up! Last year, we had more than 2,500 people in attendance. There’s no fee to attend.
The event is sponsored by Virginia Mason Memorial, the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, Fiesta Foods, with support from The Memorial Foundation, Health Alliance, Molina Healthcare, Community Health Plan of Washington and Amerigroup.
A special thanks to these sponsors for helping to make the event free to our community: Image Point, Yakima Valley Real Estate, Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home, Peach Tree Retirement Center, New York Life Insurance.
