We’ll have two more infographics about the Monitoring the Future survey in the coming days. Tomorrow: Kids and smoking. Saturday: Kids and illicit drugs.
Alcohol use continues to decline in 8th-, 10th- and 12th-graders, according to the latest findings of the Monitoring the Future survey.
Alcohol use among 12th-graders peaked in 1997, with more than half of them admitting to drinking during the past month. In the 2013 survey, that number was down to just over 39 percent.
The numbers of 8th- and 10th-graders who reported drinking during the past month reached new lows in 2013 as well—10.2 percent for 8th-graders and 25.7 percent for 10th-graders.
